They really have been made with baby in mind :)

I was lucky enough to be sent some samples of their Bathtime Bliss Bubblebaths, which come in three gorgeous fragrances:

Organic Chamomile
Organic Lavender
Organic Mandarin

We used the Mandarin bubble bath in Burton's bath tonight. It smelt lovely and orangey and provided lots and lots of bubbles for him to play with! Even my OH, whose sense of smell sometimes leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to fragrances, commented on how orangey and bubbly this was!

I re- used the bath afterwards and added some fresh water and lots more bubbles emerged so a little certainly does go a long way! The bubbles felt lovely and soft on my skin too.

The bubble baths come in lovely shaped bottles with fun, child like drawing designs featured on them. They sell at £5.99 for 370ml and are available together with other Earth Friendly Baby products from selected Waitrose stores, good health and baby stores and also on line from www.HealthQuestStore.com

However, I have 3 bottles to GIVE AWAY one of each fragrance (but will be pot luck who gets sent which one, they all smell equally gorgeous!). To be in with a chance of winning one all you have to do is:

Fisty Cuffs (well sort of!) At Funderzone!

Close to where I live is a great indoor soft play centre where I take Burton fairly regularly, to play about knowing that if he falls over it isn't going to hurt him! It's amazing how much more confident he has become since I first took him shortly before he turned one, and now much he enjoys going there now he is more mobile! (even if he did manage to get behind the food counter twice when the door was left open!)

Yesterday while we were there, an incident happened which made me feel very protective of my little man and made me think about the battles he will face growing up and how I will want to help and protect him, even if he must fight them on his own.

The 'incident' occurred whilst we were in the area especially designed for children under 3 years of age which also allows any adults who are with those children. There are times, particularly whenever Funderzone is very busy, that a lot of older kids come bulldozing into this area and run a riot and almost knock the little ones over. This drives me mad and I often find myself politely asking the bigger children to play elsewhere, and if I get cheek then I inform a member of staff to come and have a word (yes, I have become a grass!). To be honest I expect a bit of cheek from the older ones, but today a I was faced with a much younger specimen of cheekiness!

Burton was happily playing and watching the other children around him making noise and playing near him when some boy aged probably 3 or 4 suddenly pushed him with his head sending Burton to land head side up in-between some soft play towers. Burton was fine although he couldn't turn himself back without my help and he did look a little shell shocked at this boy's sudden contact. So I asked the boy to please be careful because my little boy was only a baby, to which I just got an indignant stare in return. So a few minutes later Burton was climbing up a ramp and the boy and his sister were at the top messing about. When Burton got to the top, the little boy shouted at him to "go away" right in his face! So I told the boy not to speak to him like that and explained that Burton had every right to be there and why would he want him to go away? The boy replied "because he is smaller than me!" so I said "well maybe you should go away because you are too big to be in here!".

Little s**t!

So as I watched my baby being treated a little unfairly, I felt a pang of anger towards this boy and just wanted to protect Burton from being hurt, as any mother would. I appreciate that it is just boys being boys and that children get a bit carried away when they are over excited, but I really wanted to push that little boy when he had done the same to Burton! It made me realise that there will be times when I won't be there to help protect him, as he faces his own battles that life throws up along the path to adulthood and beyond. I know you cannot wrap them up in cottonwool, but yesterday gave me my first taste of (over?) protective mummy mode!

Does anyone else remember their first taste of mummy to the rescue moment? Please share x

The Gallery - Black & White

So it's Gallery time again! This weeks theme set by Tara is BLACK & WHITE. I love black and white photographs, they just seem more interesting somehow like there is more of a story behind them. I think self portraits always look stunning when taken in black and white, the lighting is more flattering in my opinion!

So onto this weeks photo.......

I enjoy taking black and white photographs but due to being busy with Burton I have not taken any for quite some time as I tend to use my iPhone more nowadays and let the OH take photos with the proper camera!

However, the last one I took is one of my favourite photos of Burton and his Daddy. Burton must have only been about a week old here and had fallen asleep on Jon after he had come in from work. I just think it is a really lovely photo of the two of them :)

5 years on

I was sat in the bath last Tuesday night shaving my legs, like you do!,when I remembered that the OH and I had forgotten our 5 year anniversary of being a couple. The date we first got together (the night after I dumped my ex! Ooops) was November 8th, 2005.

So upon realising this fact I shouted to my OH to pop to the bathroom as I had something to tell him. "it had better be important" he replied "as I am in the middle of doing something here" (he was in his office/xbox room). Charming, I thought. Anyway, when he reached the bathroom I told him we had forgotten and said "happy anniversary" and he laughed and asked how long had it been to which I replied "five years" and he said "that long?!". Then he left, so i asked where my kiss was and he laughed! Well, how romantic was that! I seem to recall that on our first anniversary I was given a necklace and was taken out for a meal! How times have changed!

Anyway, it got me thinking about the last five years we have been together and I thought i would show this through photos taken from each year, to show how much we have changed from when we first got together to now!

January 2006 ( been together for 2 months)

Christmas 2006 ( been together 13 months)

Boxing Day 2007 (been together for 25 months)

Summer 2008 (been together for almost 3 years)

November 2009 (4 years)

Now 2010 (don't have any of the two of us taken together recently!)

So all in all I feel 5 years was something to celebrate afterall, as quite a lot has happened during that time :)

The Gallery - Before & After

So it's another week of The Gallery and what a corker, if a bit hard, of a theme Tara has given us to deliberate over! The chosen theme is BEFORE & AFTER and with a top notch prize up for grabs, how could I resist!

In the end, after panicking about what on earth I was going to base my entry on, I found the answer.

BEFORE
So I present to you a photo of a young woman just turned 18 holding her new born baby daughter born on Saturday 22nd June, 1974

AFTER
Now flash forward 35 years to Wednesday 15th July, 2009 to see that baby girl at last holding her own newborn baby boy

I can't wait to see what other people have come up with this week on Sticky Fingers!

Autumn leaves

The theme for this weeks The Gallery is SEASONS.

Autumn is my favourite season because of all of the fabulous colours on display: rustic reds, yellows, oranges and browns. I also love nothing more than walking through a big pile of leaves and hearing the rustling sound it makes under my feet!

The photos I have chosen show my favourite colour that leaves turn during autumn: red

The Gallery - Photos That Make Me Smile :)

The theme set by Tara this week for The Gallery is 'Photos That Make Us Smile'.

As with most of my gallery posts, I have selected a few of photos ( sorry hard to select just one this week!) of Burton which make me and his Dad smile whenever we look at them. Burton has always been a very expressive baby and pulls such funny faces all the time. I hope these photos bring a smile to your face too :)

That's my boy!!
