My Week That Was - Party Planning

Another Sunday and another week has passed and what a busy end to it I have had with Burton's birthday to prepare for!!

Today OH has to work three days a week away from home in Reading, which means that from 5.45am Monday until about 6.30pm Wednesday, it is just the boys and I. This means that I am without a car, so for the time being Burton's Granma is going to take him and collect him from Ladybirds.

While Burton was out Jenson and I did our usual playing together and while he napped I did some cleaning. Burton ended up having tea at Granma's and I was able to get Jenson asleep by 7pm which was great, as all I had to do was put Burton to bed as soon as he got home. Well, when he rolled in at twenty past seven I said he could have 15 minutes sat with me. Of course when I went to put him to bed he complained very loudly and ended up waking up Jenson, who, as a result of having a nasty cough, was sick all over the carpet and me! *sighs* . I eventually I got both boys to sleep by 8.30pm!!!

Well I think Burton must be very tired because today we had three strops which resulted in tears and naughty step time!! In between the tantrums we did have some lovely moments like a trip to the park before it rained and he did LOTS of painting
Tonight Jenson had trouble sleeping and work up half an hour after going to bed and was then downstairs with me until 10pm !!

We didn't go to Granma's today as my Dad and Step Mum were coming for lunch. this morning in preparation for their visit, Burton and I made some malteaser muffins and pizzas for lunch.

After lunch we all went to the park for a couple of hours while it stayed dry and within five minutes of getting home it poured it down!

Daddy arrived home at 6.30pm so I let him put the boys to bed!!

The day started off with lots of silliness as we played pirates by wearing pants on heads and then we pulled some silly faces!!

After lunch we went to see my Mum as I record a phone call from her in a bit of a panic as I had arranged to go last weekend, but I forgot and she was worried that something had happened to us when we didn't show up! Anyway, we spent a nice afternoon and I came home after tea and both boys were asleep by the time we goth home. Luckily, I had got them ready for bed at Mums as I thought that would happen.

We visited Granma this morning for a cuppa (me) and some playing (boys)

It rained almost all day today so after lunch the boys were a bit bored and I couldnt get Jenson to nap, so we spent an 'exciting' *ahem* half an hour in Tesco as I needed to buy a couple of things ahead of my on line delivery tomorrow. Burton drew his first dinosaur which daddy and I think is brilliant!

And Burton enjoyed playing 'doctors' with his brother who hurt his toe!

Today I spent all day baking and shopping for Burton's birthday party tomorrow. Luckily daddy was on hand to help keep the boys occupied for me so I could get on with the task at hand!

I made two rainbow chocolate layer cakes which I will blog about at a later date. I was really pleased with how they turned out. I didn't stop until 11pm when my back hurt to much I had to call it a night and sit down and put my feet up!

Burton's 3rd birthday.

We all enjoyed a wonderful day with our friends and family and I just managed to get all the prep done by 3pm when the party started *phew!*

Burton received so many lovely presents and I have no idea where I am going to store them all. I think I am going to have to be ruthless and get rid of some things!!

I won't say too much about his birthday here, as I want to write a separate post as part of my record of our family life.

The cakes went down very well as no one was expecting to see the rainbow effect inside and I did hear gasps of "oooh" and "wow" as I cut into them!

I did, however, make far too much food and no one would take any away with them, so I ended up forcing my Mum too as she has my grandparents staying so thought it would save her making lunch for them all tomorrow!

So all in all a busy and tiring end to my week that was - yet worth every back achey moment!

Burton's dinosaur is brilliant - definitely a picture to date and store in a memory box.
